Literally translated, Trastevere means "across the Tiber", which, of course, describes its proximity to the historical center, just southwest on the other side of the river, and just a ten-minute walk away. This area includes two neighborhoods: Trastevere and Monteverde. The first one is a modern and residential area full of nice apartments where you can find green open spaces (such as the huge and beautiful Villa Doria Pamphili, one of the biggest parks in Rome), trading areas, and many different shops. Trastevere is one of the oldest and typical neighborhoods of the city.
